What’s Beauty?
Saw this off the Sojourner's website.
Even though this is made by a company that is just as guilty as the ones they call out in this video, it's still a good message. It scares me what the media tells us is beautiful today. I'm left wondering what our society would be like if the media were more responsible, rather than telling us how to achieve an unobtainable reality. Not sure how we can win this battle.
Nudged
I was just browsing online when I got the urge to go to youtube. Usually I don't, except to see the latest video from CommunityChannel, but I felt like I was being nudged to go check out the site. (strange yes I know, but I really don't know how to explain it.) The first thing I saw was something about Sex, Money and Human Trafficking. The video is below, and it is a compelling story that these college students:
- just up and left the US to search for global issues that needed to be addressed
- went out and explored and found human trafficking to be this big issue all over the world, only to realize when they came back, that the problem is just as massive in the states
- they would take their experiences and try to do something about it.
It amazes me how this issue of human trafficking has been popping up again and again in my life this past month. There has been no real active searching on my part: information and opportunities just keep embracing me.
I'm wondering if this is a sign from God. I'm wondering what is my calling here.
Here's the video:
Boba time

Boba with the old roomie. Not sure if they ran out of regular cups, or if that's just the style.
Merry Christmas!

The happy snowman and the disgruntled penguin wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Beer with coworkers
Good Bar in Silverlake area with An, Dan and Christen. Much needed. Good conversation: some eye-opening, some strange, the rest hilarious.
Oh also, the beers were extremely large. The size of human heads. Pics below as proof.

Beer from Minnesota. 1 QUART of beer.

Size of my head. (minus the hair)
Org Politics

The topic of org politics came up several times today. I was going to write a whole post about politics within and among nonprofit organizations, but I found this picture instead. I think it sums it up pretty well. I just wish there were less org politics, more work and progress. Ah well. Perhaps it's just a necessary part of what we do?
Downtown LA From Above
Ryan got us access to the roof of the building across from where I work. 39 floors up.
*oh and apparently one of the stairways we used to get to the roof was also used to film part of Cloverfield. I asked my brother if he remembers a stairway scene in Cloverfield (I know, a stupid question) and he actually said "Yeah, that's the part where the camera was moving so fast I was going to throw up." Yeah, so there you go, pointless info.
