KEEP IT UP!
I tried to free-hand draw Obama, and then edit it a little with the computer. Anywho, I hope he keeps at it. Plenty of shit he needs to take care of, and plenty of people getting pissed because they want immediate results (come on, really?). STAY STRONG! I BELIEVE IN YOU!
Talent Show at Work
We had a talent show by the staff and interns, today at APALC. Up above you see Rebecca and Justin sparring with their Jeet Kun Do moves. I didn't really get pics of anything else. Nothing was as dynamic as this fight. I must admit though, they were holding back. I kept trying to egg them on, shouting "FINISH HIM OFF!" Alas, no luck.
Chinatown Art
Mural along a random parking lots' wall. It meant something more at one point in time. You can see there were UCLA kids who were a part of making this too (AATP).
Chinatown Art
I have no idea what this mural is about, but it lines the Northern part of Castellar. If anyone has any idea, please let me know. Something about women serving men...typical. Given the previous post, this art in Chinatown isn't the friendliest to women.
Chinatown Art
Art piece next to the one I previously posted. Hm yah know, I didn't realize it til now that this is about a peeping Tom. How awkward.

Chinatown Art
Chinatown is full of different art. I'll post a few pics over the next few days. Although this one is a bit beat up along the side of the Plum Tree Inn on Broadway, it's still nice to look at.

Chinatown
Paid a visit to Chinatown. I remember going here as a kid. It use to be bustling. Now it's...well, quiet.
10th Annual Commemorative Event for Joseph Ileto
Please read and attend!
---
On behalf of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center and the family of Joseph Ileto, you are invited to attend the 10th Annual Commemorative Event for Joseph Ileto and the North Valley Jewish Community Center Victims. This very special event will be held on Monday, August 10, 2009, from 9:30AM – 1:00PM at the Asian Pacific American Legal Center’s newly renovated community room.
This year, we will pay tribute to Filipino American postal carrier, Joseph Ileto, who was brutally and senselessly killed ten years ago by a white supremacist, and to the five children and adults who were also shot and severely wounded on the same day at the North Valley Jewish Community Center. We are holding a press conference on the day of the shooting at 10:00AM where the Ileto family and victims of the NVJCC will have an opportunity to reflect on the past 10 years. After the press conference, a memorial service will be held in honor of Joseph Ileto and we will highlight the accomplishments and activism around hate crimes prevention work.
Please RSVP with Shukry Cattan at 213-241-0269 or scattan@apalc.org.
We are also collecting letters from community members to share how the death of Joseph and the work of the Ileto family after his death, has affected individuals and groups. Please write a letter using this form, of which we will present to the Ileto family on August 10th, at the 10th anniversary of Joseph's passing. Write as little or as much as you want, but please be respectful. Thanks!
The form is also here.

DODGEBALL!
I played in an official dodgeball tournament today, for API Equality LA. The tournament was organized as a fundraiser by Roots of Equality, who are trying to raise funds to create an interactive exhibit to open dialogue about the history of oppression, violence, and defiance of the LGBT community.
I'm not going to lie, I got a bit suckered in to participating. Clayton, at work, asked me if I wanted to, and I said something along the lines of "Oh, I think you have enough people on the team from what I last heard, but if for some reason someone drops, I wouldn't mind."
From there, he asked Kat to MAKE space for me.
So yeah, 9 teams, and API Equality the only one representing for the API's. We played a total of 5 games, and we didn't lose a match. I think it helped that on the team there were two straight guys who could throw really hard and accurate (me and this guy who looked like Vin Diesel) I'm not gonna lie... a lot of the athletic looking gay guys could not throw very well...
Anywho, we won the championship round, and took home the trophy. I'll put up pics from the day once folks send them out. In the meantime, check out what they gave the winners. I donated all the gay porn back...hahaha
It's funny how the second dvd was right next to the third one. I've generously donated the third one to my brother.
